The Ministry of Health warned pharmacy owners or sellers who sell face masks and antiseptic products at high prices or any counterfeit products will face legal action which could result in suspension of their business.

“To prevent the spread of COVID-19 after the “November 3 incident”, the Ministry of Health would like to instruct all the pharmacy owners or sellers to sell face masks and antiseptic products at a reasonable price so that the public can afford to purchase these healthcare items,” said the statement.

The instruction was made yesterday with an aim to recommend pharmacy owners or sellers to avoid price gouging face masks and antiseptic products, which includes isopropyl alcohol or hand sanitizer during the COIVD-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Health also instructs pharmacies to distribute or sell masks and antiseptic products that are certified by the Ministry, and strictly prohibits any counterfeit products to be distributed in the retail market, adding that citizens should also be more vigilant before purchasing products.

“In the case of any pharmacists or sellers who do not follow these instructions, the Ministry of Health will take strict measures by suspending their business activities in accordance with the law,” said the statement signed by Or Vandine, spokeswoman for the Health Ministry.
