BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, with the national tally of cases standing at 141, marking the tenth consecutive day without new cases since May 7.
According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, no more recoveries were recorded on Sunday, maintaining the total number of recovered cases at 136. The number of active cases being treated at the National Isolation Center is still 4.
Two patients remain in critical condition. There has been one death resulting from the COVID-19 in Brunei.
The ministry added that so far 101 individuals are still undergoing quarantine and some 17,221 laboratory tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.
The health ministry also said that following the announcement on the BruHealth application recently, a total of 119,477 individuals have registered as users to the application. In addition, a total of 1,492 businesses and premises have registered for the application.
In the first phase of a plan to gradually ease COVID-19 restrictions, some businesses in Brunei such as restaurants, cafes and food courts are allowed to re-open, but entries to most of these premises will be limited and monitored by a mobile application, the BruHealth.
Businesses wishing to re-open to the public need to apply for permission and then will be given a BruHealth QR code. Customers must scan the QR code before entering and exiting the business premises, which will ensure that business owners comply with the quota imposed by the health ministry, which is 30 percent of their normal capacity at one time.
