The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday affirmed that this will be the five-year term of education, adding that State ministers will visit Peruvian regions to inspect the infrastructure of educational institutions.

"We are going to grant a budget to the education sector. How many dreams of many contemporaries were frustrated for not having education services nearby, not having (received) primary and secondary (education), or having the possibility of reaching university very far from them," Mr. Castillo expressed.

"If education had been declared in emergency 200 years ago, we would not have this type of society facing major educational infrastructure problems," he emphasized after stressing that he will undertake his utmost efforts so that teachers once again become second fathers of the homeland.

Likewise, the Head of State pointed out the need for children to be treated well at classrooms, as well as through the efforts by their authorities: mayors, aldermen, governors, legislators, and ministers.

"And treating them well means providing them with education services (...)," he added.

The top official welcomed the efforts by the Reconstruction with Changes Authority and reminded citizens that there is an average of 70 schools delivered and at the service of Lambayeque region, in northern Peru.

At the national level, there are 630 completed and 500 under construction.

According to the President, classrooms must be open without distinctions based on surnames or economic situation.

"We have been taught that whenever a provincial or rural government comes (to power), they want to watch it carefully; since the beginning they have opted for discrimination; we must put an end to that in the country," he said.

Furthermore, the top official mentioned that the State's debt towards the people, in the case of reconstruction of schools, amounts to S/111 billion (about US$29.72 billion), whereas the social debt towards teachers stands at S/33 billion (about US$8.84 billion).

"Far from thinking about other things, we should be thinking about settling the country's internal debt so that the peoples can have water, health, and education (services)," he underlined.

Remarks were made after participating in the delivery of new infrastructure for Virgen de la Luz initial education school in Chiclayo. The new rooms will improve the educational quality for its 120 students.
