KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): The National Fourth Industrial Revolution Policy (National 4IR Policy) launched last Thursday plays a vital role in coordinating all government efforts to ensure that Malaysia is not left behind in the fourth industrial revolution.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the people, business sectors and the government would all benefit from the policy.
He added that the government is focusing on increasing the people’s awareness on the need to adopt new technologies in tandem with the current developments worldwide.
“With the National 4IR Policy in place, we hope that there will be more Malaysians who are capable of coming up with new technologies,” he said in an interview on TV3’s Malaysia Hari Ini programme this morning.
Mustapa emphasised that the policy would also ensure that the government digitises its services while enhancing the digital skills of civil servants by 2050, in accordance with the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint.
The National 4IR Policy aims to enhance Malaysia’s capabilities, thus driving sustainable and competitive economic growth.
The policy will provide key guiding principles and direction for ministries and agencies in formulating policies and action plans to optimise allocated resources and coordination of implementation in matters related to emerging technologies that will benefit the people, as well as the public and private sectors.
It also supports the national development policies such as the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and complements the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint in driving the development of the digital economy. – Bernama
