The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) is holding the 9th Seoul Tourism Souvenir Contest to secure original and sensational souvenirs. This contest aims to develop attractive souvenirs of Seoul as well as discover and cultivate new small- and medium-sized design companies and fledgling designers. The contest is open-themed and accepts submissions of any souvenir that expresses Seoul’s history, culture, industries or infrastructure, or uses materials that symbolize the city. This year’s contest has a newly added category for premium products, separate from regular products. Submissions for the regular products category should be priced under KRW 100,000 and be able to be continually mass-produced. Submissions for the premium products category should be priced between KRW 100,000–300,000 as suitable for gifts or decoration. Unlike other contests where winners receive the one-off prize money, the SMG’s Tourism Souvenir Contest supports the winners by purchasing the products as much as the prize money amount. The purchased products will be used as souvenirs to promote Seoul domestically and globally for the purpose of administrative affairs.
