Colombia imports fall 2.5% year-on-year in December

BOGOTA — Colombia’s imports fell 2.5% to

$4.08 billion in December, from $4.18 billion in the same month

the year before, the government’s statistics agency said on

Monday.

Colombia registered a trade deficit of $540.6 million (FOB)

in December, compared with a deficit of $579.9 million in the

same period in 2018.

In 2019 overall, imports rose 2.9%, while the Andean

country’s trade deficit for the year stood at $10.8 billion, the

DANE agency said.

The following is a breakdown of recent monthly import

figures.

Change year-on-year -2.5% +6.3% -16.1%

Total imports $4.08 bln $4.55 bln $4.13 bln

Year-to-date $52.7 bln $46.4 bln $41.8 bln
