Peru: Credit to private sector up 6.1% in June 2022

Credit granted to the private sector —which includes loans granted by banks, finance companies, cooperatives, as well as municipal and rural savings banks— rose 6.1% year-on-year in June 2022, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) has reported.

In particular, a year-on-year acceleration of loans to individuals was registered in this month, with an expansion rate of 15.8%, while credit to companies reached 1.1%.

In monthly terms, credit growth was 0.6% in June, corresponding to higher credit to individuals (+1.3%) and companies (+0.2%).

Currencies

The BCR reported that credit in Peruvian Soles registered a monthly increase of 0.2% last June. In U.S. Dollars, it rose by 1.9% during that month.

The year-on-year rate of expansion of credit in Soles reached 6.6% in June, while the growth rate for the last 12 months of credit in Dollars stood at 4.3%.
